3x Thursday: 07/02/y2k+9: ‘Independence Day’

3x Thursday

1. What does Independence Day mean to you?

Not much personally as I have only lived here for a short time but I understand the importance of it.

2. Do you have any plans for Independence Day this year? If so, what? If not, why not?

Yes, we are having a cookout at the in-laws.

3. Did you see the movie Independence Day? If so, what’dja think? If not, why not? Do you think that movie had any significance at all, or do you think it was just a ‘Hollywood’ movie?

I loved that movie and I thought it was significant in that hopefully the whole world can stand together if needed!

95/365 - Heart Shaped Box

My son made me this jewellery box for Mother's Day a couple of years ago and I bought it with me in the move from Australia. It's one of the few things I had to bring.

Thursday Thunks 02/07

1. When you close a door, do you close it quick and just let it slam or do you hold the knob and slowly shut it tight?
The second one. I hate slamming doors.

2.Train A is moving at 60 miles an hour. Train B is moving at 22 miles an hour. They will pass each other at X time. Now what color shoes are you wearing when train A derails?
Pink of course!

3. What if M&M's grew on trees? What color M&M tree would you have?
Pink of course!

4. How many petals on a flower does it take to make it the perfect bloom?
Huh? It is 12:35am you know.

5. I took you to spend $421.67 on you, what did we spend that money on?
A camera lens

6. If you were a squash, what type of squash would you be?
Zucchini, its my favourite one.

7. Have you ever gotten a wrong number call and ended up talking to the person for longer than 5 minutes?
Yes, a long time ago.

8. Why haven't you joined Berleen & Kimber at Insanity Cafe yet? Do we stink?
Where?

9. Now for one of Ber's questions back when TT was brand new... Shampoo bottles say lather, rinse, repeat... do you?
Sometimes, it depends on how grubby my hair is.

10. It's July, the year is half over. Do you see it as "whew that part is over" or best is yet to come?
A little of both actually. It's been a big, stressful year but it isn't over yet.

3x Thursday: 06/25/y2k+9: News

3x Thursday

1. Were do you get most of your national news? Where do you get most of your local news? Is one easier to get than others?

We only watch Fox News. We didn't get it until we got cable. Which I think stinks.

2. Do you believe what you see/read in/on the news? Why/why not?

It depends on the network and what they are talking about. I think Fox is the most honest news network I have watched over here. And I am saying this as an unbiased person who has only recently moved to the USA. Most other media networks are very biased in my opinion.

3. What do you think of the 24 hour news cycle? Do you think it helps us to know what is going on, or do you think it’s a bad idea, or too much? Why/why not?

I don't mind. I think its good if you don't have time to sit down and watch it at a specific time.

I was sitting on our deck enjoying the gorgeous weather a few days ago when I noticed this guy on our storm door.

I had never seen one of these before so I had to take a photograph. My husband later informed me it was a horsefly, which I think may be related to March flies back in Australia. But this guy looked scarier!

Thematic Photographic - Cloudy

This was a tough one for me as I have literally hundreds of photographs of clouds. I am obsessed with the sky. So it took me a while to pick one.

I don't know why I chose this one, it just caught my eye.

Thousand Words Thursday

I may be following a trend here! This is my son just over 5 years ago at Caversham Wildlife Park in Perth, Australia, petting a Koala. When we went with my husband years later they had changed the Koala enclosure so you couldn't touch them anymore, which was a shame for him as he is from the USA and had never even seen one before.

3x Thursday: 06/18/y2k+9: Sleep

3x Thursday

1. In general, do you sleep well? Why/why not?

Most of the time, however if I am stressed or anxious I tend to toss and turn.

2. How much sleep do you generally get a night? Is it enough for you? What’s your ideal sleep time/schedule?

Usually around 7-8 hours. I think I get enough most of the time. I usually go to bed really late, between 2-4am and I get up around 10:30-11am. School days I get up at 6:30am to make sure my son gets on his bus then I go back to bed. Hubby works third shift so I tend to have his sleep schedule.

3. Do you sleep thru the night? If so, good for you! If not, do you know why? What do you do to get back to sleep?

I get up at least twice to use the bathroom, but apart from that I usually sleep through. I am a pretty heavy sleeper.
